Hey everybody! This amp uses two EL84's and three tubes in the preamp.

Would you suggest any mods to it ( like smth in the tone stack, or post PI coupling caps, or elsewhere) to add lower range? It already has a nice Jensen in it, so I guess I'll have to mess w the cirquit.

those are accually nice amps as are. you could do a 18watt transformation if you wanted to, but i think that would be kind of a waste as you could buy the parts you would be able to salvage from it for much less in better quality for the price of the ycv20.

what were you wanting to change about the amp?

All I want is to strengthen the lows in this amp. It's too bright.

Could I just increase the post-phase inverter coupling capacitors?

Some folks find amps with EL84s to have a tendancy twoards being bright. Unfortunately that pdf just crashed my machine, so I don't want top try lookin at it again. Increasing the cap size will increase low end (and possibly make it woofy) without decreasing highs. I have two suggestions. If there's a bright cap wired across any of the gain/volume controls, try removing it or making it much smaller in value. Also try placing a smallish cap, say 100pF or so (600V or 400V), between the anodes of the PI tubes.

it has a bright switch which eliminates the only bright cap i noticed its on the clean channel.
but the cap between the anodes is something that should work.

which channel do you usually use?

i played a ycv-40 once. i liked the sound of the clean channel turned up enough to get some overdrive.
