I am having problem in posting a reply.
So the 36 watt is to gain more volume?
I used to play in live bands and 18 watts would
never make it over a rock and roll drummer
and thats for sure.
And Dan I agree 34s are diff from 84s just
using that as a example

An 18 watt with MV and efficient twin speakers can cut through on volume and tone through a fully kitted loud drummer, hammond organ and 300w SVT bass player at painful (to the audience) level. It depends on the guitar as well it loves humbuckers.

Steve we can agree on the painful part (I have real damage to my
left ear and that feedback noise is always there) and I think the
organ and bass is less of a problem, but a heavy handed drummer
is so. I agree an 18 watter is plenty loud for a old fart like me, but
trying to get over a young loud drummer-----well I don't know!
Also a real question to me is the output stage of this 36 watter
thing, do you all ( I'm from the south) see this as a four jug pp
thing or maybe a 18 watt front end with two 18 watt output
channels, or maybe a 18 watt front end and something like a
jtm 45 output?
I sort of like the four tube(valve) pp thing,sounds like a spiffy
project, think I will getting out the old tube documentation this
weekend.

Mainly a regular 18W with an extra couple of jugs in the output stage. The idea is too keep exactly the same tone and vibe as far as possible, just a bit louder. You could call it a 2+2 version of the 18W. After that we will probably get folks building different variations on that theme...
