I found a new in box PT at an electronics repair shop that is shutting it's doors. The primary has 2 black wires and an Orange ground wire. I haven't run accross a ground on the primary before. Is this common? Should I "ground" it or.....?

Thanks

Measure the resistance between the orange wire and the frame of the transformer. If it isn't connected to the frame, I would just tape it off.

Yes, some high quality PTs have a Faraday shield like that.

I Googled the number on the bottom of the PT and found this...

That would be the tap for the Faraday shield....I've found that a lot of replacement PT's have them....you can ground it with the secondary Center Tap...or any other convenient place.
