want to have more treble on my 36 watt

Hi,
Just wondering what cap or part I should change to get more treble out of my amp. What should I change it to. thanks for the info

I am not an expert on amps, but from my very limited knowledge something tells me that maybe changing 500pf cap on the board to 1000pf would make a difference as far as treble goes.
correct me if i'm wrong

um, bultavic....no (well it does make a diff, but its the other way around)
smaller to bigger == more bass, so you would want to go smaller, not bigger.
changing the coupling caps is going to change the amps response. First try a small pf cap across the volume pot. maybe a 120pf or 250 pf, season to taste.
I assume what you meant is you want more treble harmonics, not more turning room on your treble pot, cause then yes we would reduce the amount of treble in the amp in order to make you turn the treble control higher.

oh cock! I got it confused with the treble cut circuit where you have a 500pf cap from volume to tone knob - the larger the more treble (well at least that's what i figured out there)

I wil try a small pf cap across the volume pot. maybe a 120pf or 250 pf. This is how fender did it right? The bright switch? thanks

Hi,
SO here is what I figured out. If you go with a smaller cap from the treble knob, you would think you would be more treble but what happens is you are just feeding the circuit with very high freq. and the higher freq. notes most speakers don't reproduce that very well. So I went the other way to a 500pf and now the amp has all the treble I need. Strange how that worked but now my amp sounds great. thanks for the posts..

changing the treble cap from 250pf to 500pf will let more high mids through. going beyond 500pf will get limited results if you want it brighter. going lower than 250pf will cut high mids and just pass the fairly high freqs. if you want more sparkly highs, go for a 47 - 120pf around the vol pot as said above. in addition, or instead of, you could put the same value cap around the mixing resistor or voltage divider if you have one in your circuit. be aware that the cap around the vol pot will only be active in the lower ranges of the vol pot, as you turn it up, the less it passes highs around the pot.
