Colin, both are cool looking amps. I like the bass amp,look at the speaker label,it says rated 15 watts..30 watts USA..HAHAHA.

Alot of bands/guitar players, used Selmer amps at one time or another.

The wattage thing is interesting. I have a hazy memory from the 70s about 'British' wattage being R.M.S. (root mean square) and US wattage being, er, the other one... Anyone else remember this?
I recall borrowing and using a Peavey Deuce combo in the late 70's. The output on the legend was stated at 200 watts! When I quizzed its owner he replied "Yeah but thats in the States. It's only 100 proper watts!"

Love the zodiac twin , the ind. light on the grill cloth pulses in time with
the tremolo. Would look good on an 18watt(maybe).

Yeah it was like that here too, we knew it was double,if it was from England. I think the USA went on peak power[back then]..I Used to see that alot.

Interesting. One of my Palmer speaker simulator boxes has a simple LED-ladder for power input. Told me that my Marshall 2204 (50W) puts out over 100W on a Townshend-style thrraaaaaanngggg. Musta been them Merican Watts it was measuring

When i first got my 2203,and it had the 6550s in it.. it was hitting 170+watts on about 7. The 50 and 100 watts usually means they measured RMS,and if you look at it on the scope with a signal fed into it,its right at about where the crossover notch starts. So meaning clean watts,so there is a little more leftover. The fully cranked distorted wattage may hit a constant 150 watts for a 100 watt amp. Your windmill arm Pete,would be an instantanous peak,or one hard hit chord..LOL

The Zodiac 30 is a great amp buy them before they go through the roof and they will. I got my own for $980 US landed to Toronto.

Those early Celestion alnico speakers in the eBay Zodiac linked from Colin's post make it very desirable. Usually those have been removed before the amp is sold.

Yes mark i agree, i don't know much dates of the selmers, but i think those speakers are about 63..at least thats what the Doyle book has them.
