I use a germanium FuzzFace for overdrive. It doesn't really boost treble. At least my FuzzFace don't. I've become addicted to it. It fattens up the tone.
I'll build a germanium treble booster real soon now. I have a bunch of AC127 and AC128's to try out. I guess Dallas Rangemaster is the one?

Yep, built 3.
All sound different, 2 x oc44 and a jap germanium.
I haven't modded them very much although I did try a smaller cap at one point. I would use a larger cap if anything but to be honest with you I'm a stickler for the idea that the original circuit is pretty cool.
I may do one with a larger in or out cap but that would be it.
Other than that I use a 100k Trim inside the unit to bias the resistor.
Oh...the other thing is you do need the 2m2 pull down resistors on the input and output in order to stop the footswitch popping.

I think you should get yourself a MULLARD oc44 or even just order a JAP transistor from Steve at Small Bear Electronics.
He'll even tell you what value resistors will bias that transistor properly.
That's how I did my first one and it sounds really good.

Here it is Gabster:

there's also extraneous threads like,
"How do I contact Graydon?"

and "can't see pics"

and "ebay item seems intersting"

it goes on, doesn't it.

of course,
which is almost the same as my thread.
