Celestion G12H30 Amp too clean!

Hi from a new member who has been lurking around here for a few months trying to get up to speed with the 18 watt.

I posted in the 18 watt technical forum as well about the massive clean sound of my amp, and hardly any dirt until it is nearly maxed out.

I have an oversize 1x12 cab for it with a G12H30 in it, so I may try a lower efficiency speaker such as the Tone Tubby San Rafael which is about 96dB
whereas the Celestion is 100dB. The San Rafael should be slightly less than half as loud as the G12H30; how that will actually work out depends on a few other factors, but probably worth a try.

There was a guy who put a San Rafael in his 18 watt combo, and gave a good report:

I'm pretty sure I will give it a try, just need to get hold of the dealer down here in Aus to see if they can get me one/have one in stock (I know they did have some).

Anyone else tried the TT San Rafael?

Usually if an 18 watt is too clean the voltages are too high ...

it also depends a lot on the guitar pickups ...

"Too clean" doesn't come from speakers or cabinets. It's in the electronics. +1 on checking voltages.

Ah, ok. These are the sort of responses I was expecting. Thanks a lot.

So I've got some checking to do.
