Today I picked up a Marshall Bluesbreaker 2x12 cabinet for $100. The logo is missing and there are 5 small holes about 1" apart where the logo should be. The tolex appears to be genuine Marshall leatherette tolex. The grille cloth is gold. The front piping is white. The top diamond pressed vent is gold. I wonder if anyone can help me verify or help me learn how I might determine the vintage date ? The seller insisted he was certain it is a vintage Marshall bluesbreaker cabinet but was unsure about what year it could be.

Doesn't look authentic to me, and if it is, it was likely modified with the piping and grill cloth. Either way, $100 for a decent cab is a good deal.

I'm not too concerned about whether its OEM or a repro, either way its solid and will be great for an 18 or 36 watter.
The dimensions are 29" wide by 23.5" tall (including the feet but not counting the handle) by 9" deep. Chassis cutout is 19.25" by 3".

Picked up a pair of G12T-75s for $50 today.

which amp are you going to build for it?

I'm thinking of a JTM45 with EL34s.

Possibly with an 83 rectifier tube. Just to freak people out.

according to my valve data book the 83 draws 3 amps on the 5 volt supply so you'll have to cater for that with the PT.

Haven't spent much time on this one yet but I'm thinking of an Allen PT and a Merren Drake repro OT.

looks exactly like an early Marshall cab that's 9" deep. When they have a chassis in them they're top-heavy.. I had one of the early NAMM demo combos that I bought from Korg in 1990. It was made in `89. I would say that the grill has been swapped out, or it could be a Mojotone cab..
