The Superlite TMB doesn't need a VVR. It already has a master volume, and can switch between preamp and/or power amp distortion. Build it stock from the latest docs in the download section before considering a VVR.

Are the inputs jumperable with short cables?

The Superlite TMB is single input, or double from the same point. There's no point in jumpering.

the paul ruby mod ; will it quiet the amp down a little bit with reduced buzz like effect at higher volume? if so , i may think about it.

The Paul Ruby mod doesn't affect volume. It only gets rid of unwanted fizz (if needed).

You won't even notice it's there... but in case you need it and haven't put it in, you'll hear it's NOT there

Better get a 500k pot.. but the 1M will work too, although not the same way. You can parallel a 1M resistor with the 1M pot and get the same value, but the sweep will be different

If you want the ability to blend a level of preamp distortion into an overdriven power section to get the great tone they are known for, but still have control over the volume then yes it does. Preamp only distortion for lower volume playing sounds like crap.

Sure, I don't think it will make much of a difference.

Have you played a Superlite TMB? The preamp distortion is great. I've used a attenuator with it too, but even that wasn't really necessary.

If it's similar to the tremolo TMB it's really great.. in fact the best you can get imho

They're both great, but not exactly the same. The Tremolo TMB has V1 into parallel V2, and Superlite TMB has the V1 halves cascaded. Both sound good. You gotta build one to really know though. Hahahahaha

Hello,

which PT will be suitable 290PAZ OR 290CAX. is the 630V too much for Superlite TMB? cax is 50 CDN less.

Thank you

Yeah. And I built a 2W submini version of the Superlite too, as well as the standard TMB preamp in one of my test chassis. Each to their own, although I am a self confessed overdriven power pentode addict. TMB preamp distortion is a flavour to blend into the essential power stage distortion for me. But I can certainly respect other options.
