Where do I find components to build a TMB 18 or 36 XTRA

Hi All,

I started looking over the the project downloads available and I come from the kit world where everything is supplied(BYOC amps and Mojo amps). I'm looking at TMB 18 or 36 Xtra and/or a 18 watt plexi. I can get the small components at Mouser, Digi-Key, Tube Depot etc. Where do I find or get the specs for the transformers, chassis, faceplates and head box? I don't have any metal working tools so punching large holes in a chassis would be tough. I can drill smaller holes, no problem. There will be a little bit of a learning curve for me, I'm pretty sure I can build with just a layout and use the schematic for debugging. Let me know.

Thank you!!

For transformers, I like the GDS/Heyboer transformers available from gdsamps.com. Trinity also has nice Heyboer versions. I also like the Mercury Magnetics stuff, but it's a lot more expensive.

I could put a partial kit together for you if you'd like, but the only thing I think I have faceplates for right now is the Tremolo TMB Reverb. I do have a premium chassis I designed for 18/36W stuff. I can order faceplates for you if needed, but they're not cheap.

If needed, I can also make a turret board for you, but it has to be one of my designs (or it's extra work, and I don't like extra work 😉).

Thanks,
Josh

Tube town has plenty of components, faceplates, chassis, trans and obviously kits... In Europe - in my opinion - the best supplier.

Thanks for the info. I've gotten a good chance to look over the 18 Watt Xtra TMB schematic and layout. Is there any sound clips to give a idea how the amp sounds and switching back and forth between the parallel and cascade, SS vs tube retification?

Thanks!

Re. Tubetown, I have ordered components and parts from them on occasions over the past few years and had great service. But last week I tried to order a Hammond 290CAX transformer online only to be blocked as there was a minimum order value. I wonder if anyone else has hit that.

I ordered it from Mouser UK which is a service from USA which reads like a local service so no VAT or other adds. It takes two extra days and is approx the same cost as it would have been. Over the years I have used Mouser a lot.
