I remember reading on the old forum about Weber's copper cap. At the rising price of EZ81s, they might become a more than viable option.
Have people used these? Are they good enough? If I were making these amps for customers on a regular basis, I'd think it might be good to offer it as an option to help extend my ez81 cache for those who feel tube recto mojo was all important.

I haven't tried the WZ81 yet, but the WZ34 sounds pretty realistic to me. But then I'm not a sag afficionado, more of a metalface kinda guy.

I'm hoping to start assembling an 18w 2x12 in the next couple of weeks (as soon as parts start arriving - thanks Graydon!), and have ordered a Weber copper cap to try. I've also just "won" four Mullard EZ81 tubes on eBay. Between those and the one that comes in the kit, I'll see if I can hear a difference and I'll report back. Might be a little while, though!
