1930 "Popular" on eBay

Bid up to $455 so far, and reserve still not met. I'd rather build one myself.

They're very rare amps and the few that are around usually sell for a few thousand dollars. It has a somewhat quirky circuit design, and people who are used to the 18watter, usually tend to feel the 10watter sound weak in comparison. One of it's unusual features is that it places the volume pot right at the input before the first preamp grid. If you ever wanted to build an amp along it's lines, you would do better to build a regular 18W, but with a pair of ECL86s triode/pentodes for the PI and power section. The ECL86/6GW8 is basically half a 12AX7 and an EL84 inside the same glass. Max dissipation for the EL84 side is reduced from 12W to 9W.

The price/interest must be for the 1930's cabinet cosmetics. I was wondering where the cabinet for http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 2544012995 went? :?
