Trem channel speed - Richie

Post by Aaron »

I'm trying to get the speed down a bit. searching the yahoo board i found something RIchie wrote about changing some resistor values and a cap:

------
As for the trem.. there are different ways to slow the trem.. What i have
been useing lately.. is change the 2.7M resistor to a 1 M change the 1.5M
to 1 M
add an extra .01 cap {piggybacked} to the first .01 trem cap. This seems to
slow it to a very good speed..and take out alot of the thumping when its
turned down on the intensity.. With no startup problems etc.. You can try
it to see how you like it.
Richie
----

do you mean R10 and R26 on the pedalmonkey schematic? also, should i add that cap in series or parallel?

thanks!

Yep that is correct.. some of the old drawings and schematics, show a 2.7M or 2.2M R10.. I use a 1 meg there.. then the other one used to show in some a 1.5M and our later versions showed or used a 1 Meg.. So the 1 Meg there is ok.. It very easy to just use another .01 in parallel on the first cap {one on the 2.2M) side... You can do that..or just use a .02 in place of the .01.. When you put another .01 on top of the other .01 it makes a .02

So you can see its the same as useing one .02..

Someone else posted a trem slowing change, but i can't find it.

I put the 1 meg resistor in Colins amp, some or alot of these amps seem to have the thump,or see the speaker moving, even with the intensity pot turned down, and this cures the problem. And still a great trem, seems more useable.

But even adding the .01 cap will slow the trem, without any other changes.

Sometimes people tried too much in a resistor or cap value, and the trem will have a hard time starting..or it will take a while for it to start to trem.

I bet you had to dig for that info, thats been a while back..:)

Oh i should have put "" then the other one used to show in some a 1.5M and our later versions showed or used a 1 Meg.. So the 1 Meg there is ok.""

For the R26.. keep it 1 M

R10 change to 1M
And add your cap .01 or remove the .01 and add .02 in the first spot, row of 3 .01 caps

cool thanks....thats what i thought you meant - the 2.2M and 0.02uF :)

it was actually pretty easy to find that post. i went to the yahoo club page and typed in "tremelo speed" and that was the only thing that came up. heh/
