Jim Marshall signs 1000 posters a day !!

Post by stevesuk »

A mate of mine just called round with a present, a Jim Marshall signed Bluesbreaker poster from 1995. He also brought a recent newspaper article which celebrates Jim's 80th birthday. In the article Jim relates that all he does these days is public relations and signing posters !! usually 800 to 1000 a day !! I wonder if this will affect the prices of signed posters on E-bay ?

I'll post the article if somebody tells me how to attach images.
It is typical ' accurate journalism ' evidently the first amp was a J'C'M 45 and was designed by 'Dudley Craven' and not Ken Bran. :? :?

Hi Steve,

Quote;- " all he does now is sign a 1000 posters a day."

Well, that's still a heck of a lot of posters, !

But when I met him, his right-hand man (Steve Yelding) explained that Jim still works at the factory 12 hours a day, & in-between he has to fly off on some foreign trip almost every other week.

It sounds like a cliche, but I think he spends a lot of time on Charity work with young deprived kids;- he came from a pretty humble background (his father ran a Fish & Chip shop in Southall), and as he always says "things turned out very well for me".

I found him to be a lovely guy, very quiet & gentle, nothing was too much trouble. Ten out of ten!

Ian.

"""all he does now is sign a 1000 posters a day"""

And add 1 Doyle book thrown in.lol

The guys from the guitar shop close to here, wentt to the NAMM show, and they got to meet Jim.. he signed alot of things for them, alot of t-shirts..

They also said he was a super guy to talk too. just glad to hear hes still able to do these things at 80..and hope he has many more years to be able to do this.

To many people amps are nothing..but i remember very well,i started playing at a young age. And was playing in the bars by 14 and 15 yrs old.
Yeah you could do that back then...lol I worked my butt off to save up to get my first 100 watt marshall amp. And the first time plugging into that was well worth all the work i did to get it. My grandmother used to tell me i killed all her flowers with my loud ampliflower..
