Ian,
Yeah! Just as I told you. The £12.000 Jag was a steal.
Now it´s too late to snipe it.

Hey Ian,
Sorry i didnt see the post

. I was browsing ebay and I just had to see a 25K Marshall.
The least they could have done for 25K is to get NOS Mullards and such for the amp.
Well, maybe the insides of the Sovtek tubes are also gold plated

?

I totally agree!! In fact, if you look closely, they're the cheapo Sovtek 5881/6L6WGCs, which are closer in characteristic to 7581s. So they're not even proper 5881s or 6L6s. And aren't genuine JTM45s and Bluesbreakers supposed to have KT66s in them?? In which case they would need to be NOS GEC ones.

Hi Phil,
Wassup? You are right. Which begs the question: What's the actual circuit in that one?
I dont think Marshall would just offer something from current production, and then lace it up prettily? And advertise as something like Bluesbreaker. Or would they?
Oh wait..the word "BASED ON" again. Ok, perhaps I will offer solid state amps, and say it's based on the 5E3 Tweed Deluxe, because it's got the same speaker config.
On another note:
1) Gold plating of all items < USD 70.00 (based on malaysian price)
2) Fancy covering < USD 300.00
3) Limited edition badge < USD 5.00
4) 1 of 40 produced USD 15K
5) Jim Marshall and gang signature USD 5K
6) Cost of amp <<< USD 1K
7) Cotton gloves used so that no scratch on amp (as advertised in brochure) = USD 3K
Total: USD 25K plus minus

Hey Nik, I'm doing fine and still slowly building that 18W amp you made me the board for!

Your comment is very interesting. A few years ago Marshall produced a rather poor JTM45 Bluesbreaker reissue. It had a lot of changes from the original design and used those cheap Sovtek 5881s, instead of the KT66s it should have. There's a whole list of mods you have to do to these amps to get them back to something like the original spec - see
http://www.raw-sewage.net/jtm45ri_mods.html The first sentence is "The 5881s that come in these amps are a joke."
