6v DC pliot lamps?

Post by Gabi »

Hi all...

Anyone knows of 6V DC pliot lamps that would go in the 18 watt amp?
I know about the Mouser 120VAC one. But for those who live over the pond?

thanks,
gabi.

Gabi,

If you hook up the amp to run at 240V, you need only to connect the 120VAC pilot lamp to the ground and the 120V secondary tap. You'll get plenty of power there to run the indicator light. I should probably ask Heyboer for their opinion but I've been doing it for a long time with no reported failures yet.

Graydon!

Thanks for the hint. That a good idea!

You mean "neutral" as opposed to the chassis ground?

thanks again,
g.

Actually, I usually wire it between the 240v tap and the 120v tap regardless of whether I am building a 120VAC amp or a 240VAC amp. That way, it doesn't matter how the primary is wired up and it gets the indicator wires away from the busy-ness of the bottom left corner ofthe chassis.
