Who makes good tubes?

I just bought a set of JJ's for my Boogie (Just bought it, tubes were crap, so I bought the JJ's). After reading a few posts, I'm hearing that some people have problems with them.

So far my JJ's seem fine, but I'm going to need some new tubes for my DSL401, and was wondering what I should look for.

What do ya'll suggest?

once you go bla.....uh...NOS..you never go back

sarge has them at competitive prices to new stuff (iow..you get what you pay for)

Some seem to have a few problems, but as far as I can see most don't. I have bought, tested and used hundreds of various JJ tubes but so far have only had one failure (el34). Heaps better than things used to be in the 70's and 80's when 20% of new tubes would finish up in the bin!! Yes even Mullards.

Problem is you only hear about the odd duff one here - not the thousands of good ones. JJs are my preferred new build tubes.

NOS are great sounding if they are right tubes. Not all NOS is great. Most new production is pretty good these days. I tend to like JJs in general for new production. They sound good and are reliable.

ain't that the truth about not all NOS being worth it...........some sound average to best, but when you find one thats special............well. you will know....
