Can i rip the Vibro channel of a Fender???

Sorry don't know where to ask this :

Can i rip the vibro channel of a fender schematics (FENDER DELUXE REVERB) so i can make a clean Clone keeping the normal channel and the reverb????

(thinking about problems with voltages ans such)

i would really like to build a clone of it... but here i can't find nowhere the photoresistor...

i'm trying to build it to be a god companion to my 18W lite IIb

i need to be sure to start with it....

cause i've been seen the Schems of the Bandmaster, Princeton Reverb, Twin, Bassman.... and everyone has the photoresitor i don't want to try for now...

so i'm going only for the clean channel... but i see in every schem of them... that the second part of the Vibrato Channel is conected to the PI so i don't know where to cut the schem...

i guess it's not that easy to do...

but i want the Clean Channel with the Tube driven reverb...

Any help from the others???

If all you want is the Clean channel with reverb then I would build the vibrato channel and leave out the vibrato. The normal channel uses two gain stages, which is fine, but the clean sound isn't really as fat on the bigger amps. I like the vibrato channel more because you can get that edge of drive sound from it too.

Here's what you do - we'll look at a Deluxe Reverb (model AB868) schematic as a guide (which has the same vibrato circuit as most others). You see the vibrato oscillator circuit down by the bias circuit and the power plug. It's using V5 as the tube for vibrato. You'll see a wire going to the junction of a 220k resistor and .1 cap near V4A. You just don't make that connection from the other circuit.

To use the remaining Vibrato channel, copy the circuit around V2 and V4a up to the phase inverter (V6) and you have a Fender Vibrato channel. Throw in the circuits of V3 and V4b and you have the reverb.

Not too bad at all.

So... if i got it right....

Using only the Vibrato Channel input and throwing away Normal Channel:

not using V1... and V5..

V2 as preamp... V4a as SEND for reverb .... V3 for Reverb.... V4b as return of reverb....and V6 as PI .... is it right??? so i wouldn't need to change anything else (nor Caps or Resistor)??... and all voltages will be the same???

if this is right... it will be a Deluxe Lite... and a great partner to my 18W Lite IIb

Sorry I didn't get back sooner, but I agree - you pretty much have it except make sure you keep the complete bias circuit.

Greetings and welcome...If you are going to build the 1 channel fender you don't really want to use that 868deluxe schematic (i know that it was posted as an example) It is the dreaded "CBS" era design with the suppression caps on the power tubes and a few changed component values. This design has low distortion but sounds "sterile" or too clean to most people's ears...Just a suggestion; hope this helps.

at what time did the CBS (like you said) change so much the good sound??
