I would give my left nut for something that explaines what all those caps and resistors do in the 36w. I have a good idea of alot of them... but something that says... " This resistor controls.... changing it will...." or " This is the Bias resistor" ... would make things so much easier...

Is anyone up to the chalenge?
I would be willing to build a HTML page with "Hover text" ... Go over R1 and you get " Bla Bla Bla"

That would probaly end 30% of Newbie questions....

You can get a lot of that from Randall Aiken's Tech Info section articles. He doesn't say much about tone stacks, but he does give tutorials on most of the components you'll find in a guitar amp. When you learn what parts do in general, then you can figure out what's going on in most any guitar amp.

I agree that there are plenty of sites where this informaiton can be found... but it can become quite frustrating especially for a newb like me. I understand it's probably just part of the learning process but I too would kill for a description as Chubsman has outlined. A picture like that is worth a thousand words. I also think it's quite a generous offer from him to put it in web format for all of us to enjoy.

I also helps to have some background in electronics, like knowing how to calculate Power, voltage drops, current, etc. Knowing that a particular resistor effects bias is one thing. Knowing how to calculate what that change is going to be is quite another. You can teach a 2 year old to punch 2 + 2 into a calculator and get the answer: 4. But would he know know WHY it's 4.

Sorry , but I see so many taking on these amp builds and from the questions asked they apparently don't know the first thing about electronics, electronic components, etc. God bless those in this forum who have the patience to tutor .

I kind of thought that was what the whole forum thing is about, learning, teaching and exchanging ideas. We were all new at this once (I'm new and still learning). Thank god for places like this.

So... any BIG GUNS in here ready to help me put this together? I'll start out the page... we can go along
