Spring Reverb Tank Mounting Location

Trying to decide the best place to mount a spring reverb tank in an 36w 1x12 combo (24"x24" cab). If mounted in the bottom of the cab, will the speaker vibrate the (shock mounted) tank to the point of unusability or undesirable distortion? If mounted on the underside of the top of the cab, will there be any kind of microphonic interference etc?

It will be fine mounted at the bottom of the cab.

Mount on the bottom and put the tank in a bag, it really helps cut down noise due to vibration. Antique Electronic Supply has them at a great price and if you really have a lot of vibration, they even sell a liner for the bag. I have a Vox AC15 (made in England by Korg) that had a terrible tank vibration problem on certain frequencies that was solved by using a bag (just like in the blackface era Fender amps). They even stock them in 2 sizes for short and long reverb tanks.

Generally, as has been said you want to mount it as far from the rest of the amp as possible. Especially avoiding the PT and OT if possible. This is why they are on the bottom of the cabinet on most combos. If you have to choose between one and the other avoid the PT and use some foil on the bottom for a complete shield.
