Yesterday I just noodled some around and had my tape deck running.
It´s my 18 watt experimental chassis, kinda light version w/o trem. Preamp with Valvo ECC83´s, output Telefunken round plate EL84´s w/ diamond on bottom. OT is a Heyboer.
Converted ´54 Les Paul with an early Pat No. PU in the bridge position.
Marshall 4x12 slant basketveave cab with a pre-Rola G12M and three early Rola´s.

Well, just for comparison an early ´66 Super PA w/ G.E.C. KT66´s thru the full BW stack. It´s definitely louder in real life...

Hmm, why do the attachments show up twice? Looks like I make a mistake?
Ok, I´ll try it again w/o preview.
This is again the 18 watt amp thru 4x12.

Gabi,
Thanks!
Well, I used a stereo cassette tape deck and two old Sennheiser MD221 mics with in-line impedance matching trannies.
The left mike was positioned close to the pre-Rola, just angeled from the side, some 45°. The other mike about 1 m from the cab.
I connected the tape deck with my soundcard and used the software that came with it (Creative Recorder / PlayCenter) to get wav files. Then normalized the amplitude of both channels. Converted the wav files to mp3 with a freeware converter called "dBpowerAMP Music Converter" that I downloaded from somewhere on the web. Very easy to use. Not at all sopisticated stuff. Just didn´t want to invest a penny. Glad to hear that it works for the purpose.
Actually, the ´66 JTM-100 Super PA sounds even more beefy in reality. It really moves some air.
The 18 watt is surprisingly loud thru the 4x12.

Great tones WT. Gotta love the 18Wer through a 4x12
By the way - that '54 GT isn't the one that was just on Ebay DE, is it? I was tempted by that one...

Now that's a confusing guitar! Is that a multi-piece maple top (like you'd expect on a GT), but with a Custom fingerboard?

Whatever it is, it looks sorta cool with that faded cherry finish.

Yeah, and plays great, and sounds great.
For those who are interested in more ´66 JTM-100 Super PA:

Btw, the BW cab I played the 18 watt through is the upper right one (see "that´s where she lives").
Well, I´ve checked some more speakers. A pair of 50´s Jensen P12N´s in an open back cab gives a damned cutting through lead tone, and VERY loud. Almost too trebly, but not icepicking.
The other test was with the ´63 Blue´s of my AC30 (check the clip).
Well, I DO need a 2x12 cab with Blue´s!!
Does anybody have a cab drawing of the 2x12?
