I just came back from Jamming with my band...

The drool from the other members has just dryed 2 minutes ago... This thing is great... I'll probably use a SD-1 in front to push it more during solos... Cause at basement levels you can"t push it hard enough to get the sweetness out of it.

I wanted to ask you: When I am cracking the amp, the volume gradualy goes up from 0-5 but then it doesn't get louder, just dirtyer... does yours do that too?

Well here is the dirt on me:
Finished the amp (electronicaly) am presently building 2x12 slant cab and head made of Swamp ash. All the wood is cut to lenght (Gonna be 30" high by 26" wide X 13" deep at the bottom) and the head is 9" high by 26 wide by 9" deep) , but I am working on gettting my finger joints perfect...

Not gonna tolex, just stain it black and put some mat varnish. Red grill cloth.

Once I'm done I'll post some clips... I might tear it up and re-wire it, not as clean as I would like it... I want to try grounding the filaments wires comming from the PT to the cathode resistors (elevating), it's on another thread called Paul Ruby solution...

Sounds like maybe you DONT need the half power switch after all. It sureashell aint gonna be any cleaner down there

Depends on the amount you want to spend and what ports you have on your computer (usb, firewire, etc.). There are a lot of audio interface packages (m-audio, echoaudio, lexicon, focusrite, digidesign, etc.) You'd basically plug a mic into their XLR inputs and the interface would be plugged into your computer's firewire port (or it could be a separate PCI card...depends on the package)...the packages come with lite versions of audio software like protools lite or cubase lite. There are also standa alone digital 4-tracks and whatnot that can probably connect to the computer or rip mp3s. You could host your mp3's at soundclick or myspace.com if you needed hosting.

I don't want clean, I want dirty dirty dirty , grimmy, stinky, sluty distortion... and I am starting to get it.... getting an SD-1 to push the inputs....

One thing I noticed yesterday is... ALLLLL my volatages ( exept the heaters) are cold/cool... I mean between 10-50 volts low on the tubes...

Could I be NOT pushing the tubes hard enough.... and that is why I sound wimpy wimpy wimpy??

As for soundcard: I have an CREATIVE Audigy, with the front panel when you can plug headphones and you guitar (it has 2 1/4" jacks and a bunch of other stuff...) this thing is great and I go straight into Cakewalk Sonar... I use a sm57 - into xlr to 1/4" adapter and go straight into computer.

so what kind of $$ are we talking about? I feel like my Mother half the time when I shop for stuff...I'm overwhelmed by choices. Even with like guitars...I always wanted a Takamine acoustic...well...I go look and there are a billion different models all made in different places and I KNOW I'll pick the wrong one. I'm an ebay junkie and have had a few digital recorders...a couple of rolands, a korg, and a tascam. I ended up selling them at a profit. I HAD planned on keeping them...got one, got offered big bucks, bought another, sold it, another, sold.......
None of them had any way to hook up to my computer though. After selling the last one I figured...it's stupid to buy these things when I have 3 very powerful computers. Better just get some sort of interface and use ANY software that I want that's out there

. Well...I went to ebay to pick something up and

. I dont know what's what. All I want to be able to do is get an analogue signal into my computer. I dont even need more than one input cause I have boards. Doesnt even have to be XLR...I have transformers and junk. I dont have firewire thing though. Have USBs.
So...how much am I talking? Does anyone see anything on ebay right now that I should pounce upon? Anyone got something for sale? Appreciate any help. You'll also be helping yourself cause you'll get to hear how bad I am which will inflate your egos and inspire you to play (or to practice more so you dont end up playing like me when you're 40 something).

Howcome you got low voltages?..and what are they at? (you DO know too little volts is NEVER a problem with a half power switch and a choke right? lmao). Whatchoo mean whimpy whimpy whimpy? Too bad I'm so stupid cause I'd just tell you to fiddle with your bias. I KNOW that cant be it though cause you obviously have the same values as everyone else (no NOT moral values cause we all know you're a SICK puppy).

c'mon fellas...I'm jonesin for an interface. I guess I'll have to hit the crappy local computer stores tomorrow when they're open and see if there's anything there. It would be nice if there was something right here in town...I could be posting clips tomorrow. I aint too optomistic though.

Blaren, the cheapest and most bang fer the buck is pro tools m-audio. great little unit with pro tools lite. On another tangent just came back from the grand cache gig 2 weeks ago. What a great gig! They spoiled us rotten! What are the gigs again in whitecourt? I'll sick my agent on them.

cool...OK..I was talking to the chick (Cindy) at the Office lounge a couple weeks ago(we're playing there again this comming Saturday...if you're in the neighbourhood...). Her ex owns a new "club" called the Edge. I was explaining how it would be good if they could split on a band...like one bar one night and the other the next. Pretty much all they can pay is $600 each though plus free rooms. I'd just get a hold of Cindy and skip the agent. Cindy's email is oops...probably shouldnt post it..(She wrote it with a capital C...dont know if it's upper or lower case). I "think" that the Edge might be able to go a bit higher than $600..maybe $800????. I know that's pretty paltry for a roadband with expenses. Neither bar really has a system. The lounge has a little 8 channel Kustom p.a with monitors that they use for Karaoke. It's a TINY bar. the Edge has a big D.J system. My band has a couple of full systems. Well a few. We have a wee (decent though) 8 channel powered system, a 3-way with a 12channel board and full effects rack and plenty of power, and we have a big 3-way system with 16channels, a couple QSC2450s, a crown 2000, a couple of QSC1450s, 2-double loaded 18 JBL bins, EV mids and horns, all kinds of shure drum, instrument, and vocal mics (betas and non betas), a couple of wee par38 light trees and about a dozen par64s(that we dont use). So yeah...if you dont have a p.a. I'm sure we could work something-out.
Anyway, I'd just get a hold of Cindy (if the $ is acceptable) and skip the agent...you COULD even do without a soundman and FOR SURE you wont need a light man. Tell her you were talking to Shane. When I spoke to her I explained that there was this jackass online with a band who might be interested in comming-up...that's YOU. (I didnt say you were a jackass so you MIGHT not want to volunteer that fact lmao).
Grand cache eh? How much they pay? What kind of tunes they want?

I haven't tried this particular mic, but I have one of their Blue Ball mics and I am very impressed with it. The cool thing about this one is that it uses USB and no preamp. Simple!

it was the Grande Cache hotel, it was a 3 nighter and tey treated us very well. I hear they are very picky and can be hard on bands though check it out it don't hurt.

hmmm...cool. How big of a bar is it? Do they get bands all the time? 3-nighter though..
I hate having to take a night off work to play. I can go to work for 8 hours...it isnt strenuous and I make (gross) $320. Sometimes we do a 2-nighter so I have to take Friday off. I have to work my bag off for like 4 hours (at least) including soundcheck during the day, then play for 4 hours...then the sweating REALLY starts...then another few hours to tear-down and unload the gear. It kinda evens-out a bit if you split the set-up and tear-down time over 2 nights but...
a 3-nighter would be worth it though.
We dont go out of town very often...a few times a year. I'm also a single dad and the drummer has a pretty big drywall company.
3 grand though...that's pretty good fro 3 nights. I'd imagine they'd try to burn us a bit cause we're a 3 piece.
Do they have gear? Do they have 220 for lights? Do they want that many lights?
And most importantly...are there plenty of hot hos and did you get lucky? $3K or $3.00...id aint worth squat if you dont get lucky! lmao...really though...I didnt start playing guitar 30 years ago because I wanted to get rich OR because I LOVED music
