Or any other pedals?

I use a germanium FuzzFace for overdrive. It doesn't really boost treble. At least my FuzzFace don't. I've become addicted to it. It fattens up the tone.
I'll build a germanium treble booster real soon now. I have a bunch of AC127 and AC128's to try out. I guess Dallas Rangemaster is the one?

Yeah...Rangemaster all the way.
Great pedal.

Built your own? Any tweaks or mods?

Yep, built 3.
All sound different, 2 x oc44 and a jap germanium.
I haven't modded them very much although I did try a smaller cap at one point. I would use a larger cap if anything but to be honest with you I'm a stickler for the idea that the original circuit is pretty cool.
I may do one with a larger in or out cap but that would be it.
Other than that I use a 100k Trim inside the unit to bias the resistor.
Oh...the other thing is you do need the 2m2 pull down resistors on the input and output in order to stop the footswitch popping.

OK, cool. Thanks for the advices. I guess the difference is in the transistors, they're really inconsistent and noisy. As long as they sound good I can live with that ...

I think you should get yourself a MULLARD oc44 or even just order a JAP transistor from Steve at Small Bear Electronics.
He'll even tell you what value resistors will bias that transistor properly.
That's how I did my first one and it sounds really good.

Guys,
Not trying to be selective, but it would be nice to keep the "Technical Discussion" oriented on the 18 watt amp.
That's why we have the BBQ forum. You can post anything here! Well... ok, almost anything
Take care,
Gabi.

Ah yes, I see.
Apologies...didn't know the protocol was so tight.
Does that mean speaker selection etc also goes into cabinets and speakers section?
I've often wondered...
cheers

Not a problem...
The nice thing about having all categorized, is that the specific searches will be categorized too.
It is mainly about neatnes.
I think you are right of that speaker selection thread. Can you send the link please? I can't seem to find it...
Thanks a lot,
gabi.

which is almost the same as my thread.

Thanks Zenstate--
moved all those mentioned by you. The last one - Tube Overdrive - is in the right place BBQ...
Thanks for eyeing those threads... let me know if there are others.
You can start a new thread in the "Website Bugs and Requests" Forum...
take care,
Gabi.
